For Tutees
How do you match me to my tutor?
We do our best to match you to tutors by the subjects which you have indicated that you require help in.
If you have any additional requests for your tutor (eg, gender), please indicate in our google form when you sign up as a tutee.
In view of the upcoming A levels, we will be prioritising SH students when allocating tutors as well.
How can my tutor help me with my studies?
Your tutor can help you by answering your questions online. We will leave the mode of contact up to your tutor’s preference (whether through email, video calls, or whatsapp).
Do note that your tutor is not obliged to create lesson plans and notes for you, or meet you face to face for tutoring (they may do so only if they are willing to).
Remember to thank your tutor for taking the time to help you out!
How long does the tutoring program last?
Each cycle of the tutoring program will last for a month. We will do a monthly review at the end of each cycle to improve our platform for you.
Should you no longer require the assistance of your tutor in the midst of the cycle, please drop us an email at projectoracle2020@gmail to let us know, and we will cease your participation in the program.
Do I get to choose my tutor when I sign up?
If you already have a particular senior in mind whom you would like as your tutor, instead of signing up through our tutee sign up form, please head over to our website and take a look at the page “Our Team”.
After finding the contact details of the senior you have in mind, please drop them an email to enquire if they are able to accept you as a tutee.
How do I contact the tutor after being matched?
As the student, you should be taking the initiative to contact your tutor. After matching, we will send you a confirmation email with the contact details of your tutor.
Your tutor will receive only your email address. Sharing of other forms of contact information (such as phone numbers) is at the discretion of you and your tutor.
When can I contact my tutor for help?
In your confirmation email, we should have indicated your tutor’s general available days.
We recommend that you contact your tutor and arrange for lessons during those days.
Please understand that as many of our tutors have a packed schedule, they might not be able to get back to you as quickly as you would like. We would appreciate that you would be patient and polite when asking your tutor for help!
What if my tutor doesn’t respond to my questions?

If your tutor doesn’t respond to you even after three days, please contact us at projectoracle2020@gmail.com and we will help you to reach out to your tutor.

If necessary, we will reallocate another tutor to you.
What if my tutor isn’t equipped with the knowledge to help me with my studies?
If your tutor isn’t able to provide you with the help you need, please let us know by contacting us at projectoracle2020@gmail.com and we will reallocate a tutor for you. All matters made known to us will be kept strictly confidential.
What if I can’t get along with my tutor?
If disputes/disagreements happen, please let us know by contacting us at projectoracle2020@gmail.com and we will reallocate a tutor for you. All matters alerted to us will be kept strictly confidential.
What if I no longer require a tutor after signing up?
Not to worry, simply contact email us at projectoracle2020@gmail.com to let us know and we will inform your tutor about this matter.
Are your tutors qualified?
All the tutors onboard Project Oracle are NJC alumni who are familiar with the teaching styles and answering techniques that NJC uses.
This means that they will not only be able to impart knowledge to their tutees but also valuable exam techniques amongst other advice.

What are my roles as an academic tutor?
The role of a tutor is to answer the academic related questions which your tutee has online.
You are not obliged to create lesson plans and notes for your tutee, or meet them face to face for tutoring (but you may do so if you want to).
How do I conduct my lesson?
We encourage flexibility in teaching and do not dictate how the lessons should be conducted.
The way the lesson can be conducted is up to your discretion, in a manner that is deemed to be most effective for the student.
After registering as a tutor, we would send you a guide on some platforms you can use to facilitate your teaching.

What if my schedule differs from week to week and I’m not able to have a fixed date for my lessons?
Not to worry, this can be sorted out between you and your tutee.
If it doesn’t work out, please contact us at projectoracle2020@gmail.com and we will do our best to allocate another tutor for your tutee.
What if I become busier later on and am unable to continue being a tutor?
Not to worry, simply contact one of the team members or email us at projectoracle2020@gmail.com to inform us.
We will reallocate your assigned tutee and roles to another tutor.
How much time do I need to spare for this project?
While the amount of time you need to spend can vary depending on the needs of your tutee, we recommend spending 1-2 hours a week for each of your tutees.
Should your tutee require more time and help than you are able to provide, please let us know and we will try to reallocate a tutor to them.
What if my tutee doesn’t contact me?
We will inform all tutees that they should be taking the initiative to contact you.
If your tutee doesn’t contact you even after being allocated to you for a period of time, you could try to drop them an email first.
If that still doesn’t work, please let us know and we will contact your tutee directly to find out if they still require a tutor.
What if I can’t answer my tutee’s questions?
Please let us know if you need help with answering your tutee’s questions, we will do our best to get another tutor to assist you.
If needed, we will reallocate a tutor for your tutee to better meet their needs.
